Kay Balmforth

I learnt to weave at Dartington in 1986, having first trained as a graphic designer in the 70s. This, I'm sure, influences my weaving in all sorts of ways. My interest in weaving has taken a back seat down the years to home, family and work but now, with the kids all grown up, I feel free to weave and attend classes, lectures and workshops much more often.

We've had enormous fun setting up the workshop. It's been, and still is, a huge adventure and we're all amazed at the success of it in such a short space of time. Interest in handweaving is taking off in a big way - computers and weaving were simply made for each other and design can be done at a computer even if you don't have a computer-controlled loom.
